If the rebuilding cost of your home is more or you have between 6 and 9 bedrooms then you can choose the sum insured that you require.

They reward careful homeowners with our generous no-claims discount - 10% for one claim-free year rising to 20% for three years accumulated no-claims. Home ContentsAt Legal & General they protect your contents against all the usual risks, such as fire, theft, storm and flood and we will settle claims on a replacement as new basis - except for clothing that is more than 2 years old where they will make a deduction for wear and tear.
In order to meet the changing needs of their customers, the cover they provide automatically includes:
- business equipment used in your home is covered for up to 10% of your contents sum insured, subject to a minimum of £3,000 in total
- temporary increase in contents sum insured of 10% at Christmas and for family weddings
- jury service - a payment of up to £2,000 to cover loss of earnings
- lock replacement - up to £500 to replace locks if keys are stolen
If you have up to 5 bedrooms, we calculate your sum insured based on the number of bedrooms in your home. If you have between 6 and 9 bedrooms or the limits shown are not suitable, you just enter your sum insured on the application form.
